Italian Theological Academy

Aurora Mission has been blessed with the ability to help Italian nationals to teach the Bible in truth. In a predominately Catholic country, we teach “Sola Scriptura” or the importance of allowing God’s Word alone to lead us to a greater understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Italian Theological Academy is located in Pennisi, a suburb of Acireale, Sicily. For more information about ITA, please see the ITA web site.

“The Italian Theological Academy is directed to the many pastors who have a desire to learn how to teach and preach the Bible more faithfully. Most of these pastors have not attended Bible school or have had any kind of formal Biblical training.
The Italian Theological Academy fills a void in Italy and will be instrumental in helping the Italian believers better prepare for ministry.

Historically, the Italian church’s pulpit ministry has been weak; our prayer is that God will use this Academy for His glory.”

– David J. Standridge, Programs Director of Aurora Mission and Dean of Students at The Italian Theological Academy.

Impacting Italy Through Church Leaders

The Academy has its roots in our annual FOCUS conferences, where many pastors, elders, and deacons in the Italian church are exposed to sound preaching. Because these leaders had expressed a desire to learn how to teach in an expository way to their congregations, the School of Expository Preaching, a two-year course with 2 two-week modules, was developed in 2004.

Students from the school requested continued training, therefore, new courses are being added to  what now has become the Italian Theological Academy (although Expository Preaching remains our core program). A Systematic Theology Program, a Bible Survey Program, and a Biblical Counseling Program, all three-year courses with one-week modules, are now part of the Academy’s offerings. In addition to these programs, annual FOCUS conferences continue to provide insight and encouragement for those serving the church in Italy.

Aurora’s publishing ministry, which provides much-needed sermon preparation materials for Italian pastors, is now under the oversight of the Italian Theological Academy as well.
