Aurora Mission offers various opportunities for service in missions – for those with career, short-term, or support role interest…

Career Missionaries are those who go to Italy for an indefinite period of time. People involved in this way with Aurora Mission would be primarily involved in evangelism and discipleship with the goal of planting and strengthening churches and developing church leadership. We believe church planting is the best way to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19). We invite you to become involved with us in sharing the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with the Italian people and in nurturing their faith. If you desire to become involved with Aurora Mission as a career missionary please click here to contact us. We also welcome any questions you may have about Aurora Mission and our ministry in Italy.
Short-Term Mission Teams are those who go to Italy for a  predetermined amount of time, usually ranging from several weeks to several months. Short-term missionaries are primarily involved in ministries which support the ongoing work of the missionary to whom they are assigned. Concentration will be on personal growth, ministry, and learning the local culture and language.
We have several opportunities for short-term ministry. One opportunity is assisting church planters in Italy; another is working and ministering at Aurora’s Training Academy in Sicily. We invite you to experience Italy as a short-term worker with Aurora Mission.  If you desire to become involved with Aurora Mission as a  short-term missionary or for more information on Short Term Mission Teams, please click here.
The third way to assist Aurora Mission’s ministry efforts is in a Support Role as a sender of those who go.  This ministry is equally as important as career and  short-term missions because missionaries need people who will pray for them faithfully, and who will support them financially, in order to make their ministries possible. People serving in this way can also help inform their churches or other groups about mission work and seek to involve others as supporters.

We appreciate opportunities to share about Aurora Mission in local churches and to other groups, as well as, offering support to pastors and other Christian leaders who seek involvement in Italy. We invite you to become involved with us as a supporter in sharing the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with the Italian people and in nurturing their faith. If you wish to become a supporter of Aurora Mission, please contact us for more information.

More About Short Term Mission Teams…

Aurora Mission, Inc. exists as an evangelical, conservative, nondenominational mission agency whose purpose is evangelism and discipleship with the goal of planting and strengthening churches and developing church leadership and church training centers in Italy and beyond.

Aurora Mission recognizes the importance of short-term missions in developing prayer support and relationships with local churches, increasing interest in prospective career missionaries, and aiding in the awareness of missions in general. Aurora Mission will assist local churches in sending short term missionaries.

The Benefits of Going with Aurora Mission…

Many years of experience in the country of Italy allow Aurora Mission to be well prepared to lead teams there. Contacts with the missionaries and knowledge of the Italian culture allow the short-term missionary experience to provide the most impact. Aurora Mission staff provides leadership, knowledge of the bureaucratic requirements, as well as, knowledge of the Italian language and cultural habits. Aurora Mission will oversee the training and choosing of the appropriate leadership for all the teams and must approve all ministries performed by the team.

The Benefits of Short Term Missions…

  • Life Changing Experience: Short-term missions may result in life changing experiences, as individuals are exposed to cross cultural situations. They are exposed to ministry that is bigger than their own limited contexts and come to have a new appreciation for what God is doing around the world. Short-term missionaries return with a greater awareness of the challenge of being a missionary. Learning the language, coping with other cultural customs, and being far from home are some of the first hand experiences that can have lasting impact in their lives.
  • Learning Ministry Skills: Short-term missions provide a unique opportunity for participants to learn how to minister effectively. Many opportunities are presented to the teams that are seldom available in their own church environment. Opportunities such as… learning how to evangelize, sharing their personal testimony in a relevant way, working in a team environment, developing leadership and discipleship skills, and a host of other spiritual lessons.  Short-term missionaries often return home with a greater commitment to serve in their local congregations. Many career missionaries first received a burden to evangelize the lost on a short-term missions trip!

  • Loving Encouragement to Missionaries: Short-term mission teams and individuals provide much needed encouragement to field missionaries. The work of a missionary can be extremely difficult and discouraging due to loneliness, a lack of visible results, and a large workload. Short-term missionaries offer much needed fellowship to the missionaries and their families. They ease the missionary’s workload by working along side them in activities such as construction work, literature distribution, and other activities.

  • Impacting the Land of Italy: Italy is one of the neediest countries in the world in terms of understanding the Gospel of God’s grace. A vast majority of Italians are lost and have never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel. There are thousands of cities and towns where no evangelical  Christian missionary has ever been and no evangelical church has ever been established so, there are many opportunities to reach truly unreached people.
  • Strategies and Methods: Aurora Mission utilizes a variety of strategies and methods duringshort-term missions trips. All strategies are evaluated in the light of two basic questions:
    1. Does this methodology honor the Lord?
    2. Is this method culturally sensitive to the Italian people?
(Each team must be flexible and willing to submit to the leadership appointed by the Aurora Mission staff.)

Requirements for Short-Term Team Approval…
